Great Minds...

The title of this post is far too self-congratulatory, but one of my favorite gourmands, Mark Bittman, and I appear to be reading the same book: My Life in France by Julia Child. I will not say that the fact that there is a movie soon to be released on the topic of the pioneering and beloved (and visually and sonorifically awkward) culinary instructor had nothing to do with both of us picking up the memoir, but I will say that I bought it well over a year ago and only recently rediscovered it as I packed up my Harlem apartment en route to my new Brooklyn abode (more on that later). Anyway, Bittman's blog entry is great, and I encourage everyone to seek out Child's book, which I am devouring with the same rapacity she exhibited on many a sole meuniere.
